Congressman Walz to Get Up-close Look at Need for Highway 14 Improvements

April 4, 2008
Press release

(Mankato) – On Monday, April 7th, Congressman Walz along with North Mankato Mayor Gary Zellmer and Waseca Mayor Roy Srp and other members from the Highway 14 Partnership will hold a press conference at the intersection of Highway 14 and County Road 41 in North Mankato at 9:15 a.m. Members of the media are to park their cars on Co Rd 41.

“Highway 14 is a major thoroughfare with more than 45,000 people using the corridor every day,” said Walz. “With more than 70 percent of southern Minnesota’s top employers located along Highway 14, it is absolutely critical to our rural economy that we do everything we can to improve the conditions of this dangerous and deadly road.”

Walz will join the partnership to examine the condition of the road and discuss transportation needs in the first Congressional District. The Highway 14 Partnership has requested federal funding to improve road safety and conditions.
