Northfield Area Entrepreneurs Launch Poultry CSA
March 18, 2008
In Minnesota, a group of Latino/a entrepreneurs in Northfield have started raising free-range chickens for sale, according to Reginaldo Haslett-Maarroquin, Director of the Latino Enterprise Center (LEC).
The Latino Enterprise Center is a program of the Main Street Project (MSP). Chickens are four to six pounds each, with order forms available by clicking the link at the bottom of the page.
The chickens will be processed by a small plant near Northfield, but will be available for sale to individual households. The group will operate under the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) model. Under such a model, orders are delivered to a designated site, but deliveries can be arranged to other sites if needed.
