Volunteers needed to assist in southeast Minnesota

Flood recovery volunteers: Volunteers are needed to assist with flood recovery in Olmsted and Fillmore counties, the city of Rushford, and American Red Cross SE MN Chapter. To register online go to www.uwolmsted.org. Click on Give Help, and all the volunteer information is described.

Volunteer receptionist: Channel One is seeking several volunteers to act as their primary public contact at the front desk. Volunteers may be asked to answer phones, assist with paperwork, prepare mailings, run photocopies, or do other office functions. Call 424-1705 for more information or to volunteer with Channel One Food Bank and Food Shelf.

Helping seniors: State Health Insurance and Assistance Program (SHIP) volunteers assist the Senior LinkAge Line at the Area Agency on Aging. They can choose to do the following: answer questions about Medicare and other health insurance programs, compare Medicare drug plans using the Internet tools, help with forms and applications, provide education or outreach to groups or individuals, help others learn to navigate websites or other activities within the Area Agency on Aging. Call 288-6944 for more information or to volunteer with Southeastern Minnesota Area Agency On Aging.

Religion group leader: We are looking for a volunteer to give a short Bible reading with discussion, and sing hymns on Sundays for memory-impaired residents. An ecumenical approach would be preferred. Call 535-2000 for more information or to volunteer with The Homestead At Rochester.

Radio readers for the blind: We are looking for volunteers to read local news items from the Post-Bulletin on the radio. This broadcast goes to people who are visually impaired and equipped with Talking Book Receivers. Call 280-8687 for more information or to volunteer with Rochester Radio Readers For The Blind.
